2015 Newsletter
Dear Parents:
This month will be a short one with the February break soon
approaching. Valentine’s Day will be a
focus, as well as, finishing up all winter activities.
We have done a number of crafts relating to winter and The North. The students had a fun time making their
edible igloo and growing snow (crystal garden). The new letters of study this
month will be Ee,Ii,Ww,Qq,Vv and Zz.
In Math the students will be oral counting to 60, practise recognizing
numbers 1-10, and review numbers 1-5. We
will be exploring addition and related vocabulary in the” Exploring Numbers
6-10 Unit”.
Being that report cards are getting closer, We are including a list of some of the skills that
will be expected for
Term 2:
. counting to 50
. printing of last name
. printing and
recognizing numbers 1-10
. printing and
recognizing all 26 letters taught
. Creating, recognizing
and extending patterns
Please feel free to check and reinforce any of these skills at home.
* Also, I
have started to do a mid-term letter and sound recognition check. I will send
home a note and letter checklist if I see your child needs extra home
support.
The classroom Valentine’s Party is scheduled for Thursday, February 12th
for KA and KB and Friday, February13th
for KC. Please feel free to have your
child send Valentine cards for all the students in the classroom as this is a
big part of their enjoyment for the day. Below is a list of each student’s
