Kindergarten -Room 6
June 2014 Newsletter
Dear Parents:
It is hard to
believe that a whole school year has almost passed and that it will soon be
time to say good-bye to the Kindergarten children.
The children have
grown and changed in so many ways and have learned so much. They have developed
their independence, become familiar with school rules and routines, made new
friendships, strengthened their fine motor abilities and developed their
academic learning.
June will be a very
busy month in Kindergarten. It will be a month of review and closure.
Evaluation will be ongoing, so please feel free to review any of the skills,
taught throughout Kindergarten this year. Following is a list of a few of
the skills we will be evaluating for the June report card:
· counting to 100
· number recognition
to 10
· counting objects to
10
· recognizing all
upper and lower case letters
· knowing all letter
sounds
· recognizing 3-D shapes
Kindergarten
Graduation will take place in the P.J. Gillen gymnasium on Tuesday, June
24th. Graduation will begin at 9:20 a.m. and
will end around 10:00 a.m.. Students are asked to be in the classroom for 9:00
a.m.. Parents, grandparents, family relatives and friends are welcome to attend
and to meet us in the gym that morning. After Graduation, students will
be finished for the day.
*However, during
the afternoon of the 24th there will be a whole school movie playing
in the gym. Kindergartens are welcome to attend the movie at 1:15 p.m. in the
gym. In this case, pick-up will be as usual at the end of the day for
Kindergarten.
School
swimming, at the Esterhazy pool, is planned for Thursday, June 12th
(11:00-12:00) and Monday, June 16th (11:00-12:00). The students will
need a towel, bathing suit, sunscreen (optional) and a bag to carry these items
in. Students will be walking to the pool unless the weather dictates otherwise.
Please feel free to phone the school, if the weather is questionable, to check
if the students will be swimming that day. If you would like to join us, please
feel free to meet us at the pool.
Points to Note:
1. To return all
library books by Tuesday, June 12th for the
upcoming summer holidays.
2. Kindergarten Report Cards can be picked up Friday, June 27th
between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. If you are unable to pick up, the report card will
be mailed out.
On a closing note,
it has been my absolute pleasure to work with such a great group of children
and I am so proud of what they have learned and accomplished academically,
socially and physically this year. It will be hard to say good-bye because each
of them holds a special place in my heart. I wish them all the best in their
years to come.
I enjoyed being
your child’s teacher this year!!! J
I thank you for
your support throughout the year and hope that you all have an awesome
summer!!!
Signing out for
